June Renick Obituary

June Renick, 83, of Mannington, died Friday (Jan. 1, 2010) at Fairmont General Hospital.She was born March 25, 1926 in Pine Bank, Pa., a daughter of the late William Jesse and Ella Morris Kennedy.Mrs. Renick was retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a rural route carrier, and had also worked at the Draperie Factory in Mannington. She was an active alumni member of the FFA, and served as a chaperone to state and national conventions, and also set up the John Renick Jr. Memorial Scholarship Fund to provide funding for vocational training. June contributed to many charitable organizations through the years, which was a reflection of her charitable nature and her goodwill. She loved horses and reading and was a devoted wife. She is dearly loved by her family and will be greatly missed.Survivors include her husband of 63 years, John Renick Sr., whom she married Aug. 2, 1946; a daughter and son-in-law, Cheri and Greg Cox of Bowie, Md.; a son, Frank Renick of Elkins; a son-in-law, Ward Wilcox of Michigan; a sister, Margaret Hayes of Aliquippa, Pa.; a half-sister, Bertha Wilson of Monongah; a half-brother, William Jesse Kennedy Jr. of Worthington; seven grandchildren, Ward Wilcox III and Angela Benschoter, both of Michigan, Cory and Laken Renick, both of Virginia, and Christopher, Sean and Kristin Kunkle, all of Maryland; three great-grandchildren, Torah, Rhysha and Yahzhra Ferrell; and several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, John William Renick Jr.; and a daughter, Ella Renick Wilcox.Friends may call at Hutson Funeral Home, 500 East Main St., Mannington, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. where funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday. Interment will be in the Renick Family Cemetery on Big Run. Memorial contributions may be made to the John Renick Jr. Memorial Scholarship Fund, 2804 Baker Lane, Bowie, MD 20715.
