Julian Scates Obituary

Julian, I am thinking of you at this time of loss, understanding that this Holiday season will be heartfelt for you and your Family. Find love and peace as your Family gathers together.

My deepest condolences to the Scates family. I never had occasion to meet Mr. Scates, but his son Julian, a longtime friend, is a great friend and a true gentleman, which I'm sure is a wonderful reflection on the parents who raised him.

I am deeply saddened by Mack’s passing. He was a surrogate father to me for over twenty years, in many ways he was closer to me than my own, and he provided me and everyone around him with his wise and folksy counsel. My favorite “Mack line” … If bullfrogs had pockets, they’d carry guns and wouldn’t be afraid of snakes!”… which was his unique way of saying, “Well, that would be nice if that’s the way it was, but that’s not the way it is!” Mack had one of these anecdotes for every occasion. I absolutely loved the man and the world is a sadder place today with his passing. My thoughts and deepest sympathies are with Sarah and the family.

My memories of mack are all so great.He was such a big help to me when I started out in the flooring dept.So free with both his extensive knowledge and time.My prayers go out to the entire family.May God Bless and keep you, especially during this holiday season.

Dear Sarah and Family,
I can't tell you how deeply sad this news makes me. I had hoped to see Mack when I visit Chicago within the next few months. He was a wonderful man, a true gentleman, and I am so grateful to have worked with him and to have had his friendship.
My deepest sympathy to the family. He will be in my thoughts and prayers. I just wish I still lived up there so I could attend the service.

It was a real pleasure to know and work with Mack. All of his Sears friends will agree that he was always one of the nicest guys around. Mack and God will get along great!
