Juanita B. Scheppach

Died: July 31, 2014; in Mission Viejo, CA

Juanita B. "Nicky" Scheppach died peacefully, July 31, 2014, in Mission Viejo, California, from dementia.

Born in Muskogee, Oklahoma, on August 24, 1921, she was raised in Dixon, by her beloved aunt, Catherine Gibson Siemens. While attending the University of Illinois, she met her husband of 48 years, George W. Scheppach. When George was discharged from the Navy at the end of WWII, the couple moved first to Joliet, and then Elmhurst, where they lived for many years. The couple retired to Clearwater, Florida.

While in Elmhurst, Nicky was very active in community affairs, and received the Elmhurst Jaycees Distinguished Service Award in 1971. She was a member of Elmhurst Panhellenic, receiving the Presidents' Award for Community Activity in 1968, a director of the Bank of Elmhurst and the DuPage County Tuberculosis Association, president of the Elmhurst Auxiliaries of both the Illinois Children's Home and Aid Society and Community Nursing Service, and active in the Elmhurst Symphony and Community Chest. For many years, she worked as the executive secretary for the Multiple Listing Service. She enjoyed reading, knitting, and embroidering.

She was predeceased by her parents, Edwin V. and Lura (Gibson) Williams; her husband; her daughter, Barbara Tickman; and all her siblings.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary; and her husband, Neil of VA; her son, J. William Scheppach and his wife, Melanie of CA; seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family in Clearwater, Florida.
