Joseph Saladino Obituary

To Pauline and Chuck and the Saladino family: I have many fond memories of the years I lived next door to the Saladino family in the '50's. I moved to Minnesota in the early 60's and never got the chance to thank "the boys" for their kind help to my mother who still lives in Downers Grove. They took good care of her car and were always there to fix it and drive her home whenever needed. She's now 96 and remembers the family with great fondness as do I. I'm so very sorry for your loss ... Joe was one of the good guys! God's blessings to you and your family.

I was fortunate to work for Joe and Chuck for a couple of years in the mid 60's. They were like second fathers to me. They taught me many things, but mostly they taught me honesty and integrity. Our prayers are with the Saladino family in their time of sorrow.

Watching old movies from when I was just starting to walk, holding onto 1 of my Uncle Joe's fingers, my memories run deep of this loving husband, father and a special uncle from one who misses him in Alabama. May God give strength and comfort through His word, family and friends during this difficult time and future days that are ahead. I love you Nene, Joe and Janeen. Keeping you all in my prayers.

When my twin sister, Susan, and I were about six or seven years old (a long time ago), we would frequent Joe and Chuck's Phillips 66 station on Ogden Ave. for a Kayo from an old fashioned soda chest inside. They would let us hang about and even let us wash the car windows while they pumped gas. Chuck, Joe and "Papa" Saladino were always patient and profoundly kind to the two of us. How excited were we when my mother remarried when we were nine years old and we found ourselves related to these wonderful men! We are so sorry for the loss to this special family and our love and prayers go out to them.
