Joseph Kacey Obituary

Joseph G. Kacey
Joseph G. Kacey age 95 of Westchester, Illinois formerly of Chicago, St. Thomas More Parish passed away December 26, 2021 surrounded by his family. Joe was part of a large and loving family of 8 children (parents, 5 sisters and 3 brothers pre-deceased). He was a proud father to Sally Kacey-Coupe (Tom) and Dr. Daniel J Kacey (Dr. Alejandra Perez-Tamayo). Former husband to Sarah (Sally J.) Fergus. He was a beloved presence in the life of his nieces and nephews and a devoted grandfather to Daniel and William Kacey. His cheerful can-do attitude will be sorely missed. His towering presence belied his gentle nature and caring soul. Joe's laughter and sense of humor will be missed by all. As a young man, Joe bravely served in the US Navy during World War II in the Pacific theater. He believed strongly in God and country. He graduated with a degree in engineering from Purdue University in 1951 and was a steadfast volunteer in his church, Divine Providence of Westchester, serving as an usher, communion minister, and adult altar server. Joe rose to be a leader throughout his long career in companies like EQUIPTO of Aurora, Alloy Manufacturing of Chicago, and Young Spring and Wire of Chicago. He was a 4th degree Knight of Columbus. Even in his personal life Joe was a leader. He was actively involved in his community, as a longtime volunteer miller at Graue Mill & Museum in Hinsdale and was the longest serving president of Westmont Park District Senior Golf. His interests were widespread including Notre Dame football, bowling, park district senior activities and especially being the number one cheerleader of his two grandchildren. Although he will be sorely missed here, Joe will be happy to be reunited with his family in heaven. Heaven got a good one! Services were held on Thursday, December 30, 2021at Divine Providence Church. Interment Queen of Heaven Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Conboy-Westchester Funeral Home.
