Today I learned of Joe's passing after driving past his house reminicing about the house I lived in nextdoor to Joe. I saw the for sale sign in front and my heart dropped. The "H" was still on the awning though. My grandparents lived next to Joe ever since they had both homes built there in the 50's. He was always a family friend and a great neighbor. After my grandparents had passed away, my dad lived there too. Joe and my dad had known each other a very long time and when my dad had cancer and until he passed away in 2001 Joe always had checked on him to make sure he was OK. He called my dad Joe, even though my dad's name was Earl. It was a nickname my dad was given from his mom. I remember when I lived with my dad between '91-'98 next door, Joe would sometimes call me Joe also. I always thought that was funny. I remember the bird feeder he had in the backyard also. I have pictures of Joe and myself when I was a little boy, when I used to come over and visit my grandma. Joe, you were always full of some much energy, I never thought you would have passed away. I thought you would be around forever. You lived a good life and were always kind to everyone. I hope you are having a good time up there in Heaven. Say hello to my Grandparents Earl Sr. & Mae and to my dad Earl Jr. God Bless you Joe!

Yesterday my Son, Bob told me of the passing of Joe. I was very sad to hear
it. I met Joe when my children bought
the house next door. He was alway pleasant when I would see him. My
children thought very highly of him. I
know that he will be greatly missed. My
thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Peace be with you Joe, you
deserved it.

I am Patty, your nephew John's step daughter. We never had an opportunity to meet but I know so much about you through your nephew John Rogers. He refers to you as Uncle Pepp. I always thought that a guy with a name like that has got to be an angel. Now you can keep an eye on your friends and family from up above. You definately left a GREAT impression to those you did not even know. May you rest in pease. You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers. Tell the big guy we said hello.

Today I found out about my old friend and neighbor's passing. I was Joe's neighbor in Cicero for three years. I will always remember sitting in our backyards drinking a beer, and talking or when I needed some kind of tool for the rehab of my house. Joe would always provide one from his carpenter days. Joe was one of the most kindest individuals I ever met, and I wish I would have stopped by more often to see him. I still have the picture of Joe holding my newborn son, Max. Some day when Max is old enough he will be told about the man holding him in his arms. He will be told about how Joe fought for his country, and about my fond memories of him. May God Bless You Joe, your wife Virginia, and your entire family, and until we meet again some day you will always be in our thoughts and prayers, Love Bob, Kathy, Samantha, Megan, and Max DeCianni.
