Jose Hernandez Obituary

HERNANDEZ, JOSE FRANCISCO of Lancaster, TX. Born April 6, 1938 in Hacienda del Cubo, Guanajuato, Mexico. Passed away January 20, 2004 in Dallas. Jose first came to the Rio Grande Valley in South Texas in 1945 where he was raised, went to school, & married his beloved wife, Natalia Hernandez. He came to the Dallas area in 1963 and worked at Dr. Pepper Bottling Plant on Mockingbird Lane in Dallas until 1975. After leaving Dr. Pepper, he worked for TU Electric at the old DP&L Power Plant at Victory. He was currently employed at LISD, Lancaster. He entered studies for the Permanent Diaconate in 1975 and was ordained a Permanent Deacon for the Catholic Diocese of Dallas in 1978. He served at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Lancaster from 1978 to 2004. Survived by wife Natalia; sons, Frank Hernandez (Diane) of Cedar Hill, Luis Hernandez (Susan) of Haltom City, Miguel Hernandez of Dallas, Rolando Hernandez of Lancaster; daughters, Alma Waiters (Mark) of Mesquite, Anna Ward (Greg Cassels) of Mesquite; sister, Theresa Gonzales of Harlingen; 11 grandchildren. Rosaries Wednesday & Thursday, January 21 & 22 from 7 to 9 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church of Lancaster. Prayer vigil Friday, January 23 from 7 to 9 at St. Francis. Funeral mass 11:00am Saturday, January 24, 2004 at St. Francis. Interment in Holy Redeemer Catholic Cemetery, DeSoto. Byrum Funeral Home 425 North Dallas Avenue Lancaster (972) 227-2121
