STURDIVANT
John Robert

John Robert Sturdivant was born February 19, 1941, in Coxton, Harlan County, KY. He was born to John Henry “Sam” Sturdivant and Ollie Mae Horton Sturdivant.
At the age of two, his family moved to Toledo, OH, where he grew up and graduated from Edward Drummond
Libbey High School in 1959.
After graduation, John R. joined the United States Air Force, where he served and traveled until 1980, when he retired from service, settling in Fort Worth, TX.
John R. loved sitting on the riverbank fishing, and visiting with family and friends. He was a great cook.
John R. was employed with various companies including, the U.S. Postal Service, General Dynamics, AAFES and various positions at Carswell AFB.
On March 18, 2017, John R. Sturdivant departed this life. He was preceded in death by his mother, father, and sister, Audrey Lee Sturdivant.
He shall live in the hearts and memories of those who loved him, his daughters, Jackie Sturdivant Dixon, Seanna (Samuel) Wesson, Cassandra (Dezon) Johnson and Tomika (Quinton) Allen; sons, John Rodney (Adrian) Sturdivant and Marquise Scott; sister, Loretta Sturdivant; brothers, Donald Sturdivant and Tyrone (Gloria) Sturdivant; 18 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren,and a host of loving relatives and special friends.
Services were held in Fort Worth, TX on March 25, 2017.
