John Schaefer Obituary

John Schaefer, 93, of West Chicago, passed away Saturday, August 30, 2008 at Westbury Care Center in Lisle. He was born on July 17, 1915 in Chicago, IL and resided in West Chicago since 1950. He was united in marriage on September 5, 1942 to his late wife Dolores who passed away February 5, 2004. John served in the US Army Air Force during WWII. John was a machinist with Kraft Foods and received the JL Kraft Award. He was a Business Agent for the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers. John was a proud supporter of the West Chicago Police and Fire Departments. John is survived by one son John (Marilyn) Schaefer of Two Harbors, MN, one daughter Susan Krisch of Downers Grove, IL, five grandchildren: John (Cheryl) Schaefer, Christopher (Fianc‚e Shawn) Schaefer, Sandra (Ryan) Carpenter, Michael (Karen) Krisch and Timothy; eight great-grandchildren Brendan, Kaylie, Madison, Jacob, Emily, Jonathan, Maxwell and Lily and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his wife Dolores of 62 years, his parents, brothers and sisters. Prayers will be at 9:30 AM Tuesday, September 2, 2008 from Norris-Walen-Segert Funeral Home, 132 Fremont, West Chicago (One block north of Washington and Main St.) to St. Mary's Church. Mass 10 AM. Interment Queen of Heaven Cemetery. Visitation was Monday, September 1, 2008 from 3 to 8 PM at the funeral home. Contributions in John's memory may be made to your charity of choice.
