My heart was broken when I lost my own dear Father on December 24, 1989. A few years later, I met and feel in love with John D. Reed (Jack & Linda's son)and started The Adventure of A Lifetime as a member of The Reed Family! I say this with a lot of love and pride. Mom & Dad (Jack & Linda) have always been my second set of parents and I love them dearly. On June 13, 2007, my heart was broken for a second time. Most people are thankful to say that they've had one great Dad.... I'm very thankful and proud to say that I have had two. I know that one day we will all be together again and what a celebration that will be. Until then, Thank-you Dad for being a wonderful, caring, supportive and loving Father to me and for being a fun and memorable Grandfather to the kids. I know that you are only a whisper away. I Love you Dad.

Dear Linda and the entire Reed family, I also grew up on Woodlawn Ave, remember all the Reed children with fond memories. Dorothea Reed was a wonderful nurse, I worked with her at AMH for many years. She always spoke lovingly of her sons, and family. Jack I do remember, I was a 1956 West High grad. My brother Steve was in his class. What a remarkable career Jack had, his country will miss him.

Dear Linda,
I am are truly sorry for your loss. Jack was one of the finest and most decent people I've ever known. It didn't matter to him that I was from the "West End" and he was from the "East End" --- a friend is a friend, period! It was great seeing him last year, when we & some of the Class of '59, had lunch at the Sunset. Little did I know that it would be the last time we could 'needle' each other and have some good laughs. Elaine and I wish you and your family the best.

To The Reed Family,
Please know that all of you are in our thoughts and prayers. Jack Reed was a special man. I did not get to know him as well as my husband but I know how close he was to Lee. He was so kind to us and will be greatly missed. Burt always said he was the younger brother Lee always wanted.

Dear Linda (and family), I had no idea when we met at the Hollywood Restaurant in Auburn last year that it would be the last time I would talk to Jack. It had been so many years since we were youngsters together and our talk that evening filled the space between our youth and the current day. A few days later I was made aware of what Jack and you were facing and I offered my prayers for him to our Holy Mother in my daily Rosary. We have a final praise that Navy people use and I will take this time to wish Jack "Fair Winds and Following Seas". Our Holy Father put one heck of a nice guy on this earth, and now He has him for keeps. Trust God!

Linda and Family,
Sorry to hear of Jack's passing. We shared a lot of good times growing up on Woodlawn Ave. I still remember playing baseball with Jack at the old West High School lot. I will continue to keep my memories of Jack as a truly class person, one of many in our unique WHS Class of '59.

I remember all the wonderful times we spent together. Uncle Jack and Aunt Linda would come to Auburn with their family or we would all go to their home to visit. I love you so much Uncle Jack and I will miss you forever. Love, Janie
