John Kozar Obituary

John L. Kozar, 77, of Elmhurst was called home to the Lord on December 8, 2012. He was born on August 7, 1935 in Chicago, IL to John and Margaret Kozar. He was a loving husband to Lorene Carolyn Hansen for 55 years and was a devoted father to Jack Kozar, Kaaren (Patrick) Eastman and Kristene (Jim) Zaloudek. "Pa" will be especially missed by his five grandchildren: Justin, Melissa and Dana Eastman; Sara and Katy Zaloudek. He was a kind and generous brother to Beverly Kozar. John graduated in the top of his class from Butler University in Indianapolis, IN in 1958 and returned to Chicago to open his own store, Terminal Pharmacy, on Grand Avenue which he owned for over 35 years. John always went the extra mile for his customers and was known for his sense of humor and ready smile. He was a peacemaker at heart and was a friend to all. Everyone loved John. He was a long-time member of Epiphany Lutheran Church in Elmhurst for over 50 years. Antique cars were John's passion. An avid collector and restorer of old cars, he was an active member of the Model A and Buick Clubs. John's old cars were featured in several movies, including The Untouchables, which was filmed in Chicago. Visitation at Ahlgrim Funeral Home, 567 S. Spring Road, Elmhurst from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, December 14. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 15 at 11:00 a.m. at Epiphany Lutheran Church, 314 W. Vallette Street, Elmhurst.
