John P. Duve Born: July 13, 1933; Staten Island, NY Died: Jan. 19, 2014; Sheridan, IL John "Pete" Duve, age 80, formerly of Brookfield, passed away at his home in Sheridan, IL Sunday January 19, 2014, surrounded by his loving family. Visitation will be held Saturday February 1, 2014 at Lawn Funeral Home, 7909 State Road, Burbank, IL from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. with a Memorial Service following visitation. John was born July 13, 1933 in Staten Island, New York, the son of Gustaf and Elly (Luders) Duve. He married Suzanne Schmitt in Colorado and they settled in Brookfield where John had lived for 30 years. Suzanne preceded him in death (1990). He later married Nancy (Cesak) Wilkin on May 11, 1996 in Burbank, IL. Surviving John are his wife, Nancy Wilkin-Duve of Sheridan; his children, Gerald (Mary Anne) Duve of Amboy, IL, Ronald (Boby Jo) Duve of Brookfield, IL, Russell Duve of Albuquerque, NM, and Eric (Christina) Duve of Riverside, IL; his stepchildren, Natalie (David) Wilkins of Olive Branch, MS, John (Michelle) Wilkin of Plainfield, IL, and Christine (Raymond) Pfaff of Sheridan, IL; his grandchildren, Joshua, Greta, Teagan, Stephanie, Elena, and Max; his step-grandchildren: Jacquelyn, Raymond, Kelly, Jacob, Melissa, Johnathon, Heather, Zachary, and Ethan; and his great grandchildren: Danika and Jensen. Also surviving are his brothers, Wolfgang Duve of Maine, Roger Duve of Pennsylvania, and George Duve of New Jersey; and his sister, Helga Monaka Dalezios of Greece. He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Steven. John 's hobbies included woodworking and gardening at the house that he built in Sheridan. He enjoyed traveling the world, model trains, and spending time with his family and extended family. ?While living in Brookfield, John was active in Boy Scouts, the Hollywood Community House, and served for the RBHS school board. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be directed to the American Cancer Society.
