John Alfirevic Obituary

John Thomas Alfirevic, 93, of North Riverside, passed away among family on July 20th at Loyola Medical Center. John is survived by his daughter Michelle (Steve) Rychly; grandchildren Sean and Johnathan Rychly and Nadene (Kevin) Holmes; and great-grandchildren Kaylin and Sarah Holmes. He was preceded death by his wife of 68 years, Vlasta nee Stoklasa, his daughter Maureen Eleveld and his brother Michael Alfirevic. He was a native of Chicago and long time resident of North Riverside. John was one of the "Greatest Generation", serving with the U.S. Army Air Force 394th Troop Carrier Group in Europe during World War II. He retired after over 40 years at Electro Motive Division of General Motors, also working 12 years raising monies and support for the United Crusade. he was a member of Mater Christi Church. John will be remembered always as a positive, happy man, who saw the good in everyone. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 22, 2010 from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Kuratko-Nosek Funeral Home, 2447 S. Des Plaines Ave., North Riverside.
