JoAnn McLellan Obituary

JoAnn Rae McLellan (nee Beutjer), age 79, a long-time resident of Wheaton, IL, died Tuesday, October 20, 2009 in Wheaton. She was born March 8, 1930 in Elmhurst, IL. JoAnn graduated from Wheaton Community High School in 1948. Mrs. McLellan worked several jobs as a bookkeeper, retiring in 2000 from the City of Wheaton after nearly 20 years. She and Bill had an antique business called 'Treasured Memories' at several locations in recent years. She was a member of the Morton Arboretum, and was previously a member of Wheaton Evangelical Free Church for many years. She loved gardens, flowers, antiques, garage sales, collectibles and all things patriotic. She was an avid Chicago sports fan. She loved to travel to historic locations and to spend time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren. She is survived by William McLellan, her loving husband of 56 years; daughter Susan McLellan of Phoenix, AZ; sons Scott (Christine) of Hollywood, MD, and Mark (Sharon) of Gainesville, VA; her grandchildren, Sean & Bridget, and Ian & Ethan. She is also survived by her Aunt Gladys (Bill) Servatius of Woodstock, IL; sister Lynn (Ron) Altergott; and sisters-in-law Irene (Dwayne) Beutjer-Gilliam of Athens, AL, and Denise Beutjer of Wheaton; and a large extended family. Mrs. McLellan was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Ruth (nee Nachtigall) Beutjer; and brothers Harold and William Beutjer. Visitation will be held at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., in Wheaton, from 3-9 p.m. on Friday, October 30, 2009. Funeral Services will be held at Wheaton Evangelical Free Church at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 31 with Rev. Jack Schrader officiating. Interment will follow the service at Wheaton Cemetery.
