Joan Reese Obituary

Joan Reese, a 41 year resident of Geneva, left us to be with the Lord on April 13, 2010. She was 74 years old. Joan was born on June 14, 1935 to Martha and Bill Crull of Geneva, Illinois. She grew up in Geneva, and during her high school years, she attended Dana Hall School in Wellesley, Massachusetts. She went on to Denison University in Granville, Ohio, where she met her future husband Robert (Bob) Reese. They married on December 20, 1955. The couple settled back in Geneva, where they raised their three children and were active members of the Geneva Golf Club. Joan loved her family and friends dearly, and thoroughly enjoyed entertaining guests, especially holidays, in her home on Forrest Avenue. Joan's warm and gentle character was contagious. In 1977, they moved to Tustin, California. Joan and Bob spent many months in their second home in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, where reunions with close friends from Geneva was always greatly anticipated. Joan was always a Geneva girl at heart. Her grandchildren include: Morgan, Willy, Michael, Dylan Reese, and Brandon and Connor Behun. She thoroughly enjoyed attending their performances in concerts, spelling bees, ice hockey, water polo, swimming, soccer, lacrosse and more. She was proud of them all, and it meant so much to her to be an active part of her family. She is survived by her husband, Bob Reese, her sister Tippy Sheppard of Tustin, CA, sons Willy Reese of Newport Beach, CA and Rob Reese of Joshua Tree, CA, daughter Deborah Reese of Pittsburgh PA, and six grandsons. There was a beautiful service held in her honor on April 19, 2010, at the Church of the Foothills in Tustin. We are planning a special service with close friends and family in Geneva in Fall, 2010.
