Jane F. Norman
Born: October 4, 1931 in Pittsburgh, PA
Died: December 11, 2024 in Naperville , IL
Jane F. Norman, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 11, 2024, at the age of 93. Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to Stella Rese Feick and Franklin "Dutch" Feick, Jane's life was defined by curiosity, adventure, and dedication.
After graduating from Ohio Wesleyan University in 1953, Jane applied to become the Recreational Director for the U.S. Army base in Schwabisch Hall, Germany, where she was stationed from 1955 to 1957. During her time there, she met Donald Norman, who was serving as a photographer with the U.S. Army. The couple married in 1958 and settled in Riverside, Illinois, where they raised their children, Lisa and Bob.
Jane's time in Germany sparked a lifelong love of travel, which she commemorated with magnets that adorned her refrigerator, each a memory of the places she explored. In Riverside, Jane found joy in friendships, family, bridge games, needlework, crossword puzzles, bike rides, and tennis.
A deeply responsible and efficient person, Jane excelled in her professional and community roles. She served as the bookkeeper for Sundstrom Insurance, the Riverside Village Clerk, and a local Election Judge. She also held leadership roles in the PTA, Lone Tree Girl Scout Council, West Suburban Junior Women's Club, and the Riverside Garden Club, leaving a lasting impact on her community.
In 2012, Jane moved to Monarch Landing in Naperville, Illinois, where she formed new friendships while keeping her old ones. She embraced life with her characteristic energy and curiosity, taking cruises, enjoying competitive bridge, dining with friends, and sharing recipes and suggestions with the food service staff.
Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Don, in 1999. She is survived by her children, Lisa (Dan) Hendrickson and Bob (Kathie) Norman; and her grandchildren, Samantha and Matthew Norman.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Monarch Landing on Saturday, February 8th at 11 am. Donations may be made in Jane's honor to Feeding America.
