James Mandros Obituary

James Michael Mandros
It is with a heavy heart to announce that, on June 15th, 2021, we said goodbye to James Michael Mandros, 72, of Downers Grove, IL. James was the patriarch of the Mandros family—a father to 9, a grandpa to 22, an uncle, a brother, a cousin, a son, and a dear friend to all. There are simply no words to describe the impact that James had on his peers, his family, and his community. He is predeceased by his parents, Lucille (née Maurizio) and George Mandros, his brother-in-law, Barry Roman, and his beloved grandson, Nicholas James. He was survived by his 9 kids, Kari (David), Tami (Jason), Christina (Daryl), Lucille (Zach), Mary (Todd), Matthew, Eva (Coggin), James (Erin), and Joseph, as well as his three siblings, Karen, Mark, and Frank. James was a Marine, a friend, a hero. Jim taught us that, in life, you're never too old to fall in love again. He leaves behind his girlfriend of two years, Linda Cherrington. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
If you would like to make a donation to James and his family, in lieu of flowers, we ask that you please donate to the Mandros Family Foundation. The celebration of life will be held at Bobak's Signature Events (6440 Double Eagle Drive, Woodridge, IL, 60517) on Sunday, July 11th between 2-7 PM. A private burial will be held at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.

Jim Mandros was one of a kind, generous, outgoing, concerned, a family man who gave to all of his family and all of his friends.

Always a friendly smile, always a party, always remembered.

He was loved by Morrie and Cindi Elstien

So sorry to hear about Jim´s passing. He was a great boss and leader to a very dear friend of mine who has also passed. Jim was always ready to help anyone in need. A class act!

Jim has been a friend for many years even though we come from different cultures. I will miss his birthday cards, jokes, and having lunch at our favorite restaurant Maggiano.

I have many great Memories of this man while I lived in Scottsdale, Arizona. I played piano at an upscale facility called Mancusos in the Borgata, and Jim came in there often with friends, and every evening he came in made the evening special. He would always request two songs his Dad loved, which I was happy to do, plus Rhapsody in Blue by George Gershwin, and many others. I came to know this man well, and am honored to have met him. He has left a void that has made the world less bright and colorful. I truly am a better person for having him as a friend for almost thirty years. My deep condolences to his daughters, sons, and other family members.
