James D. Ashby

Born: Nov. 25, 1930; in Marengo, IA

Died: Aug. 29, 2015; in Peoria, IL

James D. Ashby, 84, of Spring Valley, IL, passed away August 29, 2015, at OSF St. Francis Medical Ctr. Peoria, IL, surrounded by his loving wife and children.

He was born on November 25, 1930, to the late Ralph and Irene (Muzzy) Ashby in Marengo, IA. He served his country proudly with the US Army during the Korean War in Germany before finishing is education at The University of Iowa. His greatest joy in life was his family. Two of his happiest memories were taking to his grandchildren to Disney World and enjoying his time with his favorite dog Goober.

He is survived by his loving wife, Donna; his daughters, Robin (Roger) Stacks of Sandwich and Vicki Peter) Fitzpatrick of Spring Valley; his son, James (Amy) Ashby of Plano. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Wendy (Troy), Jessica (Kevin) and Sara (Brian); and his great grandchildren, Austin, Clayton, Dylan and Baylee.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ralph Ashby III; and his grandson, Nicholas Ashby.

Celebration of his life will be held August 22, 2015, at 1:00 p.m. at the United Church of Christ in Spring Valley.
