Jacques Jack V. Christiaens, age 90, passed away on Thursday, July 29, 2021. He was born in Bruges, Belgium on November 11, 1930, to Willem Christiaens and Raphaelle De Clerck. In 1957, Jacques and Claraemigrated to Chicago, Illinois. Most of his life he worked as the maintenance engineer at St. Willibrord Catholic Church and School and later St. Martin dePorres School in the Chicagoland community of Roseland. There for years, he became affectionately known to the student body as Mr. C.
His passion was soccer which he played and coached. In 1985, Jacques received the Meritorious Service Award from the Illinois State Soccer Association.
Jack is survived by his wife of 65 years, Clara, and three daughters, Carine (Marty) Acks, Marlene (Phil) Herbert, and Diane (Tim) Dorr; grandpa to Brian (Kate) Acks, Kelsey (Alex) Kotsakis, Chris Herbert, JonathanHerbert, and Justin Dorr; great-grandpa to Duncan and Maeve. In Belgium, he leaves behind a sister, Jenny Verte.
A Visitation was held Wednesday, August 4th at Adams-Winterfield & Sullivan Funeral Home. Funeral Mass Thursday, August 5th, 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary of Gostyn, 4501 Main Street, Downers Grove, IL 60515. Interment, Holy Family Cemetery, Downers Grove, Illinois.
