Ms. Vaughn was my 6th grade teacher during the 2nd yr that Doubletree School was open. I remember fondly her kindness and compassion when I needed it and also her firm reminders when I got off my task. I can still remember her warning that my conduct was in jeopardy if I kept "socializing during non-social time"- it still makes me laugh. She will truly be missed and I can certainly say I truly loved her as my teacher and a person.

I met Ms Jackie Vaughn about 27 or 28 years ago when my children attended Doubletree Elementary. This school of excellent was a be fitting place for Ms Vaughn because of teaching skills and compassion for her students. The world and the teaching professions and the Progressive family have lost a quiet giant. My deepest sympathy goes out to her sons and grandchildren. May God Bless you and keep you.

I was blessed to be a student at Double Tree and to be in Ms. Vaughn's 6th grade class. She was a wonderful teacher -she was tougher than a 2 dollar steak and she had a huge heart. My prayers are with Allan (my old running buddy) and the entire family. Her legacy of dignity and service should inspire us all.

Sis. Laurine Lewis & Family

When we lose someone we love, it seems that time stands still. What moves through you is a silence, a quiet sadness, a longing for one more day, one more word, one more touch. You may not understand why she left this earth so soon, or why she left before you were ready to say good-bye, but little by little, you will begin to remember not just that she died, but that she lived. And that her life gave you memories too beautiful to forget. Please accept our heartfelt sympathy on the passing of your sister. The Hopewell Baptist Church is praying for you that God will give you all the strength you need during your hour of bereavement.

My sincere condolences to the Vaughn and Double Tree Family. Ms. Vaughn was the sixth grade teacher in the space across from my sixth grade class, Mrs. Bradshaw. We, the students are a testament of the type of academics and life skills teachers like Ms. Vaughn instilled in young minds. Those of us who are educators today strive to be the educator Ms. Vaughn and others of that era were to us. May her memory live forever.

Respectfully,

Jackie Vaughn was an excellent , highly effective teacher, mentor and friend. She was an educator that impacted student performance and encouraged all students to be the very best that they could be. Her teaching career was over a 40 year span and the hundreds of students at Double Tree will never forget her spirit, love and dedication.

Mrs. Vaugh taught my grandson at DoubleTree and my daughter and son-in-law had told me what a beautiful person she was. I found out that she had taught my grandson when I met her father and he told me he had a daughter in Memphis; I told him I used to live in Memphis and he called her and I talked with her and told her my daughter lived there in the course of the conversation I found out that she had taught my grandson Randall Von Wordlaw Jr. I'm sorry I never got a chance to meet her.
You have my deepest sympathy.
