Jack Kostiwa Obituary
Jack Allen Kostiwa, 88. Beloved husband of Rosemarie for 66 years; loving father of Susan Kostiwa and Jane (Steve) Baker; brother of Dr. Dale (Patricia) Kostiwa; uncle of many nieces and nephews.
Jack grew up in Berwyn Illinois. He honorably served in the armed forces as a photographer in Italy during the Occupation after World War II. Jack had a long career as a photoengraver/lithographer and taught his trade at Triton College. He was an avid reader and loved conversation with friends and strangers alike. Jack enjoyed music (big bands and jazz). He was a proud community member of Elmhurst for over 59 years. Jack was a nature lover; planting trees and caring for animals. He was an early advocate of recycling for environmental protection. A Good Samaritan, Jack was always available to help a neighbor or friend. He was a great provider and guide for his family. He will be fondly missed by many.
A memorial tree will be planted at Wild Meadows Trace in Elmhurst in Jack's honor.
Interment private.
In lieu of flowers, Memorials will be appreciated for the Great Lakes Hospice, 5061 N. Pulaski Rd., #200, Chicago, IL 60630.
