News Death Notice

JOHNSON, Jack E. age 79, passed away Thursday, April 22, 2010. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lott and Carrie Johnson and sister, Gloria L. Shivadecker. Jack is survived by his wife of 60 years, Shirley Johnson; children, Kathy (Bill) Biteman, Stephanie (Gary) Snyder, John Johnson (Jean Hankison), Linda (Jerry) Erbaugh, Brenda (Bruce) Roegner, Jack II (Kathy) Johnson, Leslie Johnson, and James (Leigh) Johnson; sister, Bonnie Lee Arnold; grandchildren, Joy, Erin, Courtney, Shannon, Haley, Allison, Ashley, Brian, Heather, Kim, Nick, Andrea, Matthew, Carrie, Darrell II, Sarah, Patrick, Kelsey, J.T., Christen, Christopher, Jacob, Ryan, Beth, and Jeramy and 14 great grandchildren. He retired after 42 years from Dayton Newspapers and was a volunteer firefighter with Mad River Twp. for several years. He was a member of the Dayton Baptist Temple, serving as a Deacon and Choir member and a member of the Dayton Browns Backers #64. He also loved camping, traveling, fishing, and bowling. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Heartland of Beavercreek. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, April 26, 2010 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek. Pastor Jerry Siler officiating. Interment to follow at Valley View Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends from 5:00 7:00 pm on Sunday, April 25, 2010 at the funeral home. jack and james I just found out from kathy this weekend about your dads passing. I remember running around the fire house with you guys,and the baseball games we played. Jack I can remember every game we coached togeather and every practice that big Jack was out. I know you guys will miss him but know he is in a better place now.
