To the Parents of Iain Steele,
I am a parent of a son who is frequently bullied and teased. I know the pain of trying to intervene and help. I also know the frustration of what it is like to watch children torment each other. We are working very hard at our school to make a Peaceful School Policy, and to encourage children to accept differences in one another.

My heart goes out to you in this sad time of grief. Indeed it is a time of grief for our whole community. I pray for you and for us, for your son, and for all children. My prayer is for healing and peace. God bless you, and thank you for sharing your story with all of us. It has inspired me to work even harder in this area that affects so many of our young people

Perhaps they are not the stars, but rather openings in Heaven where the love of our lost ones pours through and shines down upon us to let us know that our Angels are happy."-- May God and the force of the spiritual Universe give you strength and hope in amid of this hour that we will all meet our Angels again…My 19 years old son “David” became an Angel on 11/06/08.

Dear Steele Family & Friends,
I just came across Iain's story in the paper. I am very sorry for your loss and will pray for you and Iain. I also lost a friend in junior high, for similiar reasons. I pray for young people to be kind to each other.

I've sat and stared at this empty dialogue box for too long and there's nothing I can say to ease the pain of losing a son. I read your story in the Chicago Trib this morning and my heart is sincerely broken over your loss. Iain left such a beautiful legacy behind from his kindness, he will not be forgotten.

We just found out about your dear Iain...that sweet boy with the big soulful eyes. I remember when you brought him home to Bell St. in Chicago. Steven and I are so very sorry that you've had to say good-bye to him. Hope somewhere there's some peace for you in knowing that you were a wonderful family for him. We love you dearly.

Not a day has gone by that I haven't had countless, constant thoughts and wonderful memories of Iain dancing around my mind. Mr. and Mrs. Steele and Colin- you're in my constant thoughts and prayers as well. I love your family so very much, and I can't thank you enough for sharing yourselves, and Iain, with the world. I'm so very sorry for your loss.

Iain seemed to be a great kid, and I always enjoyed seeing him with Willie at work. I will miss him and I will keep him and your family in my prayers. I am sorry for your loss

When I met Iain last month at River's dedication celebration, I saw a loving, compassionate young man who loved holding the baby and playing with her and I thought it was adorable that a teenage boy had such an interest in a baby. He was so gentle with River and that showed me the sensitive, loving endearing traits of Iain. Even though I only met him once, he had a positive effect on me and I'm so saddened by his loss. My deepest, heartfelt sympathies to Iain's family and friends. This truly is the greatest loss and please know all of us in Massachusetts and New Hampshire are praying for peace and comfort for the Steele family.

My son knew Iain from jazz band, and he remarked that Iain truly was a gifted musician. Please know there are many people in the Lyons Township High School family who are keeping you and your family in their prayers. God bless Iain and your family.

My son Justin and I met Iain at options and he was a very sweet boy. Our thoughts and prayers are with Iain and your family. God bless all of you.
