Hettie Waller Obituary


DRY FORK, Va. - Hettie Jefferson Waller, 83, of 465 Bowl Drive, Dry Fork died unexpectedly on Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2004 as the result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Born Sept. 11, 1921 in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Jefferson and the late Lula Perkins Jefferson.

She was a homemaker and a member of Guildfield Missionary Baptist Church, where she seved on the Senior Usher Board and as a member of the Golden Age Club.

She was married to the late Richard Waller.

She is survived by two daughters, Aretha Jackson of Roanoke and Sherdene Clark of Chatham; six sons, Linwood, Clinton and Anthony Waller, all of Dry Fork, Earl Waller of Cascade, Thomas and Michael Waller of Danville; five sisters, Artie Swanson of Glassboro, N.J., Velma Barksdale and Irene Myers, both of Washington, D.C., Queen Leftwich of Baltimore, Md. and Lillian Hodnett of Dry Fork; one brother, Merlon Jefferson of Dry Fork; 19 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by one son, Clevan Darnell Waller; and five brothers, Arthur, Wesley, Bryant, Preston and Raymond Jefferson.

The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 24 at the Guildfield Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Millner officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Burial Park.

The family will receive friends at the residence, 465 Bowl Drive, Dry Fork.

Fisher and Watkins Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

I know Mrs. Waller is in a very peaceful location now I prayed for the LORD'S blessing in her new home, and I feel privileged with my rescue squad to have been there to try and help her in time of pain.
