Henrietta Cady Obituary

Henrietta Probst Lindemann Cady, a 40-year resident of Riverside, IL, passed away on May 24, 2010 at the Scottish Home, North Riverside, IL from complications of Alzheimer's. Born on May 9, 1914 in Pierce, CO. Henrietta attended the University of Dubuque 1932-1934 earning an Associates Degree. She taught for a couple of years and then went to Cornell College 1936-1938. She then went on to Iowa State University and received the coveted Smith-Hughes Certificate. She married Glen Cady, a teacher at Kelvyn Park High, Chicago, in Jan. 1944 in Epworth, IA. From 1963 to 1975 she taught Home Economics and was cafeteria manager at Burnham School, Cicero, IL. Henrietta and Glen lived and raised their family in Oak Park, IL for 20 years. She was active in the community and volunteered as a Girl Scout Leader, Room Mother, Publicity Chair at Holmes School PTA. She was a member of First United Methodist Church Oak Park and was active with the choir, Tandem Club, Sunday school teacher and board member of the Women's Society. During her years in Riverside she was member of the Riverside Garden Club sharing her many perennials from her garden, a faithful member of Riverside Presbyterian, Treasurer and Publicity Chair of the West Lake-Shore Retired Teachers Assn., Treasurer, Educational Foundations Chair of American Assn. Of University Women and member of P.E.O.- Ch. She enjoyed going on Elderhostels and visited Ecuador, Iceland, Sweden, Egypt, The Holy Land, Australia, California and Virginia. Henrietta will be remembered for her friendly, cheerful personality, smiles, laughter, generous heart, and her love of birds, nature, gardening and genealogy. With the help of family she realized a life long dream of creating and recording the histories of the Lindemann and Cady families. Beloved wife of the late Glen; loving mother of Linda (Dave) Waycie, David and Ralph (Jennie) Cady; dearest grandmother of three, great grandmother of 3. A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 29, from 4 to 8 PM at Ivins/Moravecek Funeral Home 80 E. Burlington St. Riverside and on Sunday, May 30 from 3 to 4 PM with services to follow at 4 PM at Riverside Presbyterian Church 116 Barrypoint Rd. Interment will be private at Highview Cemetery Epworth, Iowa. Memorials to Riverside Presbyterian Church 116 Barrypoint Riverside, Il 60546, Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org or Epworth United Methodist Church 102 Main St. East Epworth, IA. 52045.

I recently read about the death of your loved one (Mrs. Cady). I am deeply concerned about the sorrow and distress that you must be experiencing. However, I have some comforting news to share with you regarding your loss.

Revelations 21:1-4, promises that soon in the near future PAIN, SICKNESS,and even DEATH will be NO MORE. This is because according to 1 John 4:8,"God is love."

I hope that these words have brought you some comfort.

Psalms 34:18, "Jehovah is near to those that are broken at heart; And those who are crushed in spirit he saves."
