Helen Shurley Obituary

A Celebration of life will be held for Helen Hollowell Shurley, 83, of Yazoo City, Ms. on November 23, 2010, at 1:30 p.m. at Stricklin-King Funeral Home. Services will be conducted by Rev. David Bryant, pastor of First Baptist Church of Yazoo City, followed by interment in Glenwood Cemetery.
Helen Shurley left for her heavenly home on November 20, 2010, after a short battle with brain cancer. She was the daughter of Mary Sue Harthcock and James Franklin Hollowell of the Freerun and Coxburg communities.
Helen is survived by her husband, James Kendall Shurley of Yazoo City; her daughter, Patty Yates and husband, John of Enterprise, Al.; her son, Kenny Shurley of Atlanta, Ga.; a sister, Eleanor Murphree of Senatobia, Ms.; and many wonderful nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by sisters, Christine Woods of Yazoo County and Kitty Justice of Fort Lauderdale, Fl.
The family would like to express their deep gratitude to Continue Care Home Health Hospice for their genuine and attentive care shown to Mrs. Shurley.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Baptist Childrens Village.
