Helen Houk Obituary

Helen L. Houk, 71, of Palos Hills and former LaGrange resident for over 30 years, passed away April 1, 2008 in Palos Hills. Helen was born November 21, 1936 in Chicago, IL. She was an English Teacher for over 30 years at Calumet High School. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and loved her dogs. Visitation will be held Sunday, April 6, 2008 from 3-9 p.m. at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 1025 W. 55th St., Countryside. Mass 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 7, 2008 at St. Francis Xavier Church in LaGrange. Interment St. James at the Sag Bridge Cemetery in Lemont, IL. Helen was a loving friend and companion to Harold Williams for 45 years; Mother of Julie (Michael Drory) Houk, Mary Beth (Don Thompson) Houk, Jeannine (Dennis) Rehr and John (Lisa) Houk; Grandmother of Denise (Matt), Matthew, Benjamin, Kelly, Morgan, Kyle, Sarah and Amy. Helen was preceded in death by her parents Benjamin and Elizabeth Lamb and her loving Uncle Tee and Aunt Helen. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, PO Box 769, Hillside, IL 60162, appreciated. Arrangements by Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 708-352-6500.
