Helen Fay Burdi, nee Woodward, age 84, a resident of Westmont, IL since 1970 and formerly of Brookfield, IL and Southern Indiana, passed away Sunday, January 29, 2017 at Sunrise Assisted Living in Naperville, IL.

She was born May 30, 1932 in Louisville, KY. Helen was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a graduate of the University of Louisville. She had taught English in various high schools, was a member of the The American Association of University Women (AAUW) and in her spare time enjoyed reading, cooking, gardening and most enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Philip (Joan Gorski) Burdi and Susan (Robert) Mangano; three grandchildren, Jacqueline (Andy) Boyd, Mary Helene Trier and Michael Y. Burdi; one great grandchild, Lillian Boyd; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Henry Burdi; and siblings, Stanley, Raymond, Earl, and Lewis Woodward.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, February 5, 2017 from 12:00 noon to 4:00 p.m. at the Beidelman-Kunsch Funeral Home and Crematory, 516 S. Washington St. Naperville, IL. Additional visitation and services will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday in Salem, IN. Interment Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, New Pekin, IN. 630-355-0264.
