Hazel Valentine Obituary

It's been 13 years, Mom, and I still miss being with you, hearing your voice, and learning your practical wisdom. Love you forever.

Hazel was a delight to know. It was always a pleasure to see her. She loved life and her family. She will surely be missed.

We miss you, Mom. So happy that Michael made it to see you before the end, that Janie and her family saw you, and that Valerie and her family visited so recently, and that Ken, Bev, and I got to be with you so much during your last week. Thanks for all you ever did for me.

I know Hazel through the Wednesday night knitting group, too. She loved to see what we were all making. We all enjoyed her company and she'll be dearly missed by everyone!

My condolences to the family. It was a pleasure to know Hazel as an Alpha Gam sister. She was always so friendly, pleasant, and helpful. We shall all miss her.

Our family, Randy, Janet, Edward and John Snively, knew Hazel through belonging to First Congregational Church of Glen Ellyn. We moved to Columbus, Ohio in January, 1996, but kept in touch with Hazel through letters and Illinois visits. We want to extend our sympathy to you.

Hazel was an active and enthusiastic volunteer at the Glen Ellyn Historical Society. She enjoyed learning how to use the large open scanner and worked to preserve the history of Glen Ellyn for its future residents. Hazel, we will miss you!

Hazel was a bright spirit, so friendly and positive. I just saw her strutting into the Historical Society about 3 weeks ago. So busy, so active! Hazel, you inspire us! Thanks for that!

I started knitting with Hazel 6 years ago. We talked every week she was there and she would remember everything we ever discussed. I can only hope I will be as active and mentally alert as she was.

Hazel has only been a part of my life for the past six years but I will love her forever. She was ahead of her time and so interesting to be with.

Hazel rarely missed the Atlanta Bread Co. Wednesday night knitting group & it won't be the same without her. I enjoyed hearing her life stories and I know she was an inspiration to our group. My sympathy to the family.

I admired Hazel for her joy in giving to others, from the time I first got to know her as a fellow Stephen Minister about 20 years ago, to most recently knitting with her in the Prayer Shawl Ministry.

Hazel was one of those lights we thought would shine among us forever. Our family will miss her smile and caring ways.

Hazel was a fine lady with lots of spunk.
Enjoyed our wednesday nights at knitting in Warrenville together.
Will sure miss her.
