I am going to have to find a python or an anaconda if I ever want to be hugged with an "Uncle Dale-like hug" again. Of course they won't be saying "Precious" or "Sweetheart" in my ear. I can still feel it and hear it. What a wonderful group of role models "The Great Eight" were. :)

I have so many wonderful memories of Grandpa Long! Grandpa always told us, "I love you so much sweetheart," even when he could not remember my name any more. He was the friendliest man I ever knew. He never walked by a person without saying hello. It still doesn't seem real to me that he & Grandma are not here any more, but I look forward to the day when I will be reunited with them.

Barbara Eubeler, Rush Memory & Aging Project - your father was an honorable, altruistic, charming man. Your mother was gracious and lovely. I met both of them when I signed them into our research study. They both made significant contributions during their lifetime. Please accept my deepest sympathy.

My thoughts and prayers are with the entire Long family. (Large as it is!) I realize this is so difficult for all of you. Hopefully this memory will help. Thanks to Lorelei, I accompanied Collette and Dale back to Chicago, on all three legs of the flight, from California. It was shortly after Alana's passing and it's difficult to describe the looks of love and caring they exchanged during the trip. It was beautiful to behold, as I'm sure you all know. Dale often sat in the window seat enjoying the view and Collette next to me, keeping an eye on Dale. Collette and I spoke of Alana, through our tears. It was so beautiful to be with them. I'll never forget them or their eliquence, gentleness, and warmth. It is so clearly seen in their children. I send hugs to all of you at this sad time. I know how happy you are to have had them in your lives so long. They were true blessings to all of us.
