Gloria Scigousky Obituary

GLORIA KATHERINE KRAFT SCIGOUSKY Gloria Katherine Kraft Scigousky, a longtime resident of Downers Grove, passed away after her brave battle with cancer on the 18th of March 2013 . Gloria attended Germantown High School in Philadelphia, PA, before attending the Philadelphia Museum College of Art. Gloria served her community as Director of Downers Grove Artist Guild, Election Judge, Committeeman for Precinct 9, a member of the 3rd Order of Carmelites, a professional artist, and used her talents to serve a multitude of children and adults during her 45 years in education. Gloria 's art work brought pleasure to countless people at many art fairs, the Art Institute of Chicago, and various libraries and museums. Gloria retired in June 2011, after completing 15 years of outstanding service as a DuPage County Regional Board of School Trustees. Gloria served as Vice President of the DuPage Regional Board of School Trustees in an exemplary manner using sound judgement and always in the interest of children. Family and friends were Gloria 's passion, pride, and delight. Gloria is survived by her husband, John Scigousky, son, Mark (Lynda)Scigousky, daughter, Diane (Greg)Saunders, daughter, Mary (Mike)Reynolds, and son, George Scigousky. Grandchildren, Matt Scigousky, Brooke (John) Wedding, Andrew Saunders, Alex Saunders, Allison Saunders, Daniel Scigousky, Tyler Scigousky, Grace Scigousky, and Faith Reynolds. Great Grandchildren, Simone and Mia Scigousky, Holden, Cameron, and Rowan Wedding. A special thank you to St. Joseph 's Catholic School for dedicating a mass to Gloria for her years as their Art Teacher. Also, thank you to the Carmelite Sisters for their beautiful farewell to a beautiful woman who will be dearly missed.
