Georgia Gibson Obituary

Georgia L. Gibson, 78, passed away at home on May 10th following a short battle with pancreatic cancer. After raising her family in Glen Ellyn and living in Safety Harbor, Florida during the 1990's, she had been a resident of Wheaton for the past 13 years. Born Georgia Lee Lindstrand in Chicago's North Park neighborhood, she moved to Glen Ellyn with her family while in her teens and graduated from Glenbard West High School. She attended Illinois State University and graduated with a degree in Education from Elmhurst College. Mrs. Gibson taught elementary school in Bensenville for many years and was also a substitute elementary school teacher in Glen Ellyn School District 41 when her children were young. During her retirement years Mrs. Gibson was a member of the Women's Department Club of Wheaton as well as the Glen Ellyn Book Review Club. She also loved to play bridge and was an active member in several social bridge groups. Mrs. Gibson is survived by her husband of 58 years, Robert A. Gibson, as well as her two sons, Robert G. Gibson (Carrie) and James D. Gibson (Laura Kay) and her two grandchildren, Grant and Kristen. A memorial visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of memorial service 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 21st at Williams-Kampp Funeral Home on Roosevelt Road in Wheaton. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to CNS Hospice in Carol Stream or the Pancreatic Cancer Foundation.
