George Struve Obituary

George Edwin Struve, 92, a Hodgkins resident since 1939. Beloved husband of the late Esther; loving father of Rev. John W. M. )Marjorie) and Paul &\(Denise); devoted grandfather of Theresa (Matthew) Elvers, Karla (Rev. Matthew) Roeglin, Laura (Bret) Hintze, Matthew (Amy) Struve and Daniel Struve; dear great-grandfather of Kristin, Katelyn, John, Julia and Andrew Elvers, Jacob, Zachary, Abigail, Joshua and Emily Roeglin and Benjamin Hintze; fond brother of the late John Struve, the late Mineva Druhn, the late Frederick, the late Louis, the late Edward and the late Charles Struve; dear uncle of many. Visitation from 3-9pm Friday, November 27, 2009 at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 1025 W. 55th St., Countryside. Will lie in state from 9:30am until time of Funeral Service 10:30am Saturday, November 28, 2009 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 665 S. Kane Ave., Hodgkins, IL 60525. Interment St. John's Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Immanuel Lutheran Church or St. Thomas Hospice, 8230 Madison St., Burr Ridge, IL 60527 appreciated. Mr. Struve was a faithful member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, where he served as Chairman of the Congregation for many years. He was Fire Chief in the Village of Hodgkins for 20 years, and a Trustee for the Village for 2 years. He was a longtime member of the Willow Springs American Legion, serving as its Commander for 6 terms, and he was owner of the 8-Ball Inn from 1957 to 2009. Funeral home phone, (708) 352-6500.
