George John Regan

George John Regan, 76, of Largo, passed away on June 19, 2016. He was born on July 14, 1939 in Chicago, Illinois, a son of the late John Regan and Marie O'Connell Regan.

George served in the United States Army as a sharp shooter and rifle range instructor. After his time in the service, George continued to devote himself to his community as a policeman. He retired in 1998 from Berwyn Police Department. He was also the owner of Chuggers Lounge and Our Place lounge in Cicero, Illinois and a member of the American Legion post 0256, Commodore Barry Post.

His family remembers him as a kind-hearted, loving, and caring man.

He was preceded in death by five brothers, John (Jack) T. Regan, James Regan, Robert Regan, Thomas Regan, and Bill Regan; and one sister, Eileen Surin.

George is survived by his wife of 18 years, Patricia McAleer Regan of Largo; three sisters, Margaret Murphy of Bocca Sierra, Elizabeth "Betty" Mahoney of Illinois, and Donna Griffin of Barrington, Illinois.

A service was held at Bay Pines National Cemetery on Monday, July 11, 2016 at 12:45 pm. Military rites were rendered in the memory of George.
