George Ku Obituary

George Yung-Hsiao (Y.) Ku , age 87, beloved husband of the late Evelyn C. Ku, passed away in Nashville, TN, on Monday, November 12, 2012. He was born May 24, 1925, in Wu-xi, China. George graduated from National Wu-han University, Wu-Chang, China in 1947. He immigrated to the United States in 1953 and received his Master's degree in engineering from Purdue University in 1955. He married Evelyn Chen in 1956, and raised their family in Elmhurst, IL before retiring to Ann Arbor, MI and then Nashville, TN. He contributed nearly 40 years of service in environmental engineering for many municipal water distribution projects while working for McCabe Engineering and PRC Consoer, Townsend and Associates in Chicago, IL. George and his family were long time members of Yorkfield Presbyterian Church, Elmhurst, IL. He is survived by his son Warren, daughter-in-law Michelle Embree and grandsons Jetson, Myles and Jared; his daughter Janet, son-in-law John Edward and grandchildren Hobey, Andrew and Katherine; his daughter Millicent, son-in-law Paul, and grandchildren Christopher and Anna. A beloved and caring husband, father, grandfather, photographer, builder, fixer, engineer, cook and computer enthusiast, he will be dearly missed. Service was held on Sunday, November 18, 2012 at Arborcrest Memorial Park, Ann Arbor, MI with family. In honor of his memory, donations can be made to Yorkfield Presbyterian Church, Yorkfield, IL.
