George W. Gillmor Born: October 27, 1937 Died: Nov. 12, 2013 George Wellington Gillmor left this world November 12, 2013. George was born October 27, 1937 in Camden, Maine. He was the first of four sons born to Hope and Alexander Gillmor. It was evident early in life, that he was gifted academically, artistically and musically. He graduated first in his class from the Mount Hermon School of Massachusetts and went on to attend Harvard University at the age of 16. For reasons he never revealed, he ran away to sea and joined the Merchant Marine, and did not return to Harvard. He attended the Boston Museum School of Fine and Applied Arts, where he excelled in painting and sculpting. At this time, he worked as a professional musician. He met and married his wife of more than 20 years, Priscilla (Sibby) Hunter at this time. They had their first child, Jennifer in Boston. They had their second child, Alexander in Evanston. George attended Boston University and Boston Law School, where he was editor of the Boston Law Review. He went on to practice law with the firm Isham, Lincoln and Beale in Chicago. George raised a family and ran a jewelry store with Sibby, in Evanston, Illinois. George struggled with chronic illness for many years, but his passion for painting and music continued throughout his life. He went through many changes and did live with great intensity. George married Teresa Hudson in 1999, and they ran a business together in West Virginia. George was blessed with another daughter, Zoe late in life. Zoe was a source of great joy for him in his last years. During the years that George lived in West Virginia, he did a great deal of painting. He created a number of paintings that were an exploration of his Christian faith. He was greatly loved and is greatly missed. George leaves behind two brothers, John and Robert, his former wife, Priscilla Hunter, and their two children, Jennifer and her husband Douglas Bowden and their daughters Aliyah, Samaya, Kadisha and Nameera. George 's son Alexander and his wife, Anna Wermuth and their daughters Lili and Greta. George 's former wife, Teresa and their daughter, Zoe.
