George Downs Obituary

George J. Downs, 81, of Sarasota FL, formerly a 40-year resident of Villa Park and a 1946 York HS graduate, passed away January 4, 2010. He was a US Army SGT 1946-1952. Beloved husband for 60 years of Wilma nee Cain. Father of John (Christine), Sandra (Raymond) Frederick, and Matt (Deirdre). Grandfather of Tracy, William, Elizabeth, Stephen, Brittany, Jeffrey and Kelsey. Great grandfather of Taryn and Dominic. Brother of Kenneth (Terrie) and Skip (Joan). Uncle of Kathy, Nick, Tony and Jason. Visitation January 28th, 6:00-8:00 PM at Calvary United Methodist Church, Villa Park where a memorial service will also be held at 10:00 AM January 29th. Internment with military honors at Mount Emblem Cemetery, Elmhurst. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Leukemia Society or Tidewell Hospice, Sarasota, FL.
