George Dapp Obituary

George Peter Dapp, Sr., 87, of Jonesboro, Arkansas, died Thursday, December 9, 2010, at his home of natural causes. He lived in Illinois before moving to Blytheville, Arkansas in 1968. He moved to Memphis in 1974 and then to Jonesboro in 1995. He was a Christian and a U.S. Army veteran of W.W. II serving in the European and Pacific Theaters and earning a Bronze Battle Star. George was a chemist in the inks and carbon business for over 40 years and was the owner of several patents pertaining to this profession. Through the years he worked for Miller Bryant Pierce, Columbian Ribbon Carbon Company, Teledyne Post and Fuji Copian. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Ruth Walker Dapp of the home; 1 daughter and son-in-law: Diane and Rick Carter of Goobertown, AR; 2 sons and daughters-in-law: Steven, Sr. and Maryann Dapp of Jonesboro, and George "Peter", Jr. and Lorie Dapp of Memphis. Funeral services were with military honors held December 12th, Sunday at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Rev. Michael Blackwood officiating. For lasting memorials, the family asks that consideration be given to the American Cancer Society, Craighead Chapter, 1205 S. Madison, Jonesboro, AR 72401, or to the charity of the donor's choice.
