George Alwes Obituary
George L. Alwes, age 90, of Lemont and Downers Grove, at rest August 16, 2014, at Meadowbrook Manor in Naperville. Born June 11, 1924, in Bloomington, Illinois, to Oswald and Dorothy nee Schneider.
George was a big band musician all his life, playing the sax until he retired three years ago. He worked in the millwork industry, Ft. Poly and Berwyn Lumber for many years.
He was an avid White Sox fan and his happiest times were spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Beloved husband of Lorma nee Zielke; loving father of Gregory, Gary, Dawn, Laura, Lynn and Shelly; devoted grandfather of Jennifer, Scott, Norman, Joseph, Michael, Alex and Amanda; dearest great grandfather of 5; dear brother of Oswald Jr.
Funeral Services were held Tuesday, August 19, 2014, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Pastor Michael Gudgel, officiating. Interment followed at the church cemetery.
