As I read through the memories already shared, I'm amazed by the number of states and countries represented. Fred touched hearts and lives from his own backyard to around the world. I'm blessed to have been related to him both naturally and spiritually. We have a blessed hope during this time of sorrow. May God wrap his loving arms around you, Pete, and give you strength and peace.

I first met "the Chief" in my formative years. He was always patient, understanding, knowledgeable and had something in the gargage that could fix anything! He truly was a fine human being. My thoughts are with all of you.

Ever since we moved from Pittsburgh to the Chicago area in 1986 Fred and Pete had become part of our family. They were extremely nice to us and set a wonderful example of a great Christian couple. In them we saw God’s love and God's grace. Fred and Pete came to our son, Jonathan’s first month celebration (a Chinese tradition) and attended our daughter, Lily’s wedding. They invited us to their 50th Anniversary and Christmas family reunion. They treated us just like their own family. In 1995 we were deeply frustrated because Weiren moved to Batavia to work but Yuanfang and kids still lived in Texas. Fred kindly invited Weiren to a Mens’ Retreat and let him have the chance to share his frustrations with Christian friends, for which Weiren was grateful and will never forget. We will miss you very much, Fred. We will always remember you in our prayers. Dear Fred, sleep well, and Good Night!

Dear Eileen,

My mom forwarded your sweet message to us “Misar kids.” What a kind and gracious man Fred was…a mighty oak indeed. He was always so kind, interested and supportive of me even though we saw each other rarely. May we, now with the baton run as straight and true as he did!

Fred was actively engaged in Family and extended Family Life. He cared about everyone individually always seeking an update. I loved Fred! His absence will be felt in so many hearts.
I am genuinely comforted to know that he is with our Lord and oh, so many of our loved ones who have gone on before. What a celebration feast!
My sincere prayers for Pete, his beloved wife of so many years, his children, Roger, Fred Jr. and Eileen, their families and extended families.

It was an honor to know Fred Orth. Although, I cannot describe the exact family relation, he will just always be Uncle Fred to me. He and his generation of our family were a blessing from God and will be truly missed. I will never forget the kind man who would talk and listen to you with such interest and caring at every family reunion. My deepest sympathies to the Orth family, along with prayers of comfort knowing that Fred is home with the Lord, along with the other members of his earthly family that have gone before and are there to greet him.

Fred and Pete are a very loving couple who loved us tremendously. When we moved from Hong Kong to Chicago 17 years ago, we left our families and friends there and started all over here in the States. Fred embraced us and treated us like his own children and grandchildren. He loved and cared for us. He was such a godly role model to Thomas and Jonathan, being a loving husband, a compassionate and kind-spirited father and grandfather. He left a huge legacy and inscribed an unforgettable mark in our lives. We would miss him very much and will surely reunite with him and our late daughter in heaven.

We were fortunate enough to have met Mr. Orth while he was visting Fred and Cheri in Alabama. Even though his health was failing, he was a strong, proud man. He and Mrs. Orth were a perfect example of what love and marriage are about. Few people are with their best friend for 63 years! Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire Orth family.

Mr. Orth was an Opa to me and the rest of the Knock family. My favorite memory of him is holding his hand while we skated around the skating rink. Your family is in my thoughts.

I heard the echo of "well done, my good and faithful servant" on Oct. 4 as Fred was greeted by our Lord Jesus. As one who married into the family, Fred and Pete embraced me with love and acceptance. Their impact on the lives of so many will resonate for eternity.

Oh, Roger - how I LOVED your dad!He was a great man and I learned a lot from him. I especially enjoyed that summer in Seaside building a sprinkler with him. My blisters are long gone, but fond memories remain. To all of the Orth family, you were blessed to have such a patriarch; thanks for sharing him with the rest of us! You will be in our prayers.

The extended Orth family has lost its final patriarch. Our dear Uncle Fred, along with Uncle Herbie and Tante, demonstrated a rare kind of character - humble, selfless, giving, loving, sacrificing, nurturing, fun-loving, forgiving… What an enormous blessing it has been to have such models walking before us. Grace and Peace to our dear cousins and sweet Aunt Pete during this time.

Uncle Fred certainly was a man of passion...loving God, his family, and others. I remember him always present with love and zeal at family gatherings. Ps 116:15 brings a smile to my face whenever I think of those Godly loved-ones who have preceded us in death, "Precious in the sight of God is the death of His saints" because now God and Fred are enjoying face to face fellowship!
Love and peace to the Orth family as you carry on your dad's and grandpa's legacy, Greg and Marcy Russo

Mrs. Orth and family, I'm grateful I had an opportunity to meet and share a few meals with your family.
An opportunity to be in the presence of such a wonderful gentle man is a personal gift I will cherish forever!
My heart hurts because I know saying good bye to a loved one is never easy in spite of knowing your father
is at peace with God our Father. May the Lord's blessings and grace comfort you as you celebrate the life of your husband/dad! You are all in my prayers. Sending love to all of you, Deb Bolin
