Frances Parrott Obituary

Frances Parrott 95, passed away on October 20, 2007. Preceded in death by her husband, Archie; sister, Sister Bernice Hansen; and son, Tom. Survived by sons, Jm Ray, Mike and Mark; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She met her future husband, Archie while playing violin in his dance band. After moving to Tucson in 1942 she joined the Tucson Symphony Orchestra as a violist. She was also a charter member of the Tucson Pops Orchestra. Besides her full time playing duties she also served as music librarian for both orchestras and sang in the St. Frances Cabrini Church Choir. Frances retired in 1993 at age 80 commenting, "My left hand doesn't want to work anymore and I guess neither do I". Her most favorite pastime was sitting in front of the Pacific Ocean working crossword puzzles whenever she could get away to Oceanside CA. She radiated a spirit of warmth and sincere genuineness; quick with a smile and laugh and even with her busy schedule still made her family her first priority. May the painful void in our hearts be filled with the joyous and loving memories of this most precious lady. Celebration of life and mass will be held Friday, October 26, 1:30 p.m. at St. Frances Cabrini Church, 3201 East Presidio.

As a member of the Salpointe band, I remember how we held Mr and Mrs Parrott in such high regard as members of the Tucson Symphony. They were honored in life and now in memory. Special greetings to Mike. Hope all is well.

I knew Ms Parrott as Ray's mom. She was a wonderful musician and mom. I enjoyed her hospitality as Ray's buddy. Years ago she drove Ray and I to the altar boy picnic in her monster 1956 Buick, which I thought was really cool. I know she will be missed. My sympathy to the Parrott family.

As a young child growing up in Tucson, I lived in a culdasac that was surrounded by several families, one including the Parrott family. The Parrott family loved music, and all played their own musical instruments and were all extremely talented in their own right. I can remember that occasionally they would get together as a family and we (the neighborhood) could hear them "jamming" together and it was a wonderful experience. And of course, they performed as a family on several occasions in public productions and would "bring the house down". I grew up knowing the Parrott family from the time I was an infant until I moved to California at the age of 13 years old. I will always remember Frances as she was like a second mother to me. My deepest sympathy to the family. She was a great lady and will be sorely missed.

Although I have never met Frances, I know Jim Parrott and his wonderful wife Rosina. I can tell she has touched the clay of many and will live on in the hearts of all her loved ones and friends. Your family is in our thoughts and prayers. We pray that remembrance of who she is will place a smile on your faces as well as your hearts.

I haven't seen Mrs. Parrott since I was about 15 years old, but I will never forget how nice she was to all of us kids who were friends of her sons. She was one of a kind.........Dan Washuk
