Florence Whiting Obituary

NORTH QUINCY Florence C. Whiting, a longtime resident of North Quincy, died Thursday May 21, 2009. Beloved daughter of the late Charles Arthur and Florence G. (Anderson) Whiting. Devoted sister of Charles A. Whiting II and his wife Carla of Chelmsford and Beatrice C. Monson of North Easton. Loving aunt of Dawn Doyle and her husband Mike of Taunton, Leslie Whiting Poitras and her husband Arthur of Dracut, David Monson and his wife Kim of Blackstone and Charles A. Whiting III and his wife Kathy of Milton, VT. Dear great aunt of Lindsay Lisenby of Raynham, Paul Lisenby of Troy, ME, Kyle Lisenby of Taunton, Mariah and Ilayna Monson of Blackstone and Timothy Poitras of Chelmsford. Dear sister-in-law Jean Whiting of Chelmsford, loved cousin Mary Lou Whiting of Quincy and beloved partner Johanne Smith of Quincy. Florence was born in Allston and lived in Quincy. She was a graduate of North Quincy High School and worked for Liberty Mutual Insurance Company for 43 years as an underwriting analyst. She was a charter member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and served 63 years in the choir, 25 years as a Sunday school teacher, arts and crafts teacher for children and youth, altar guild, pres. of welca, church council and several church committees. She truly loved her church, her family and her many friends. She enjoyed swimming, canoeing and camping throughout the US and Canada. She especially loved her log cabin by the lake in Hiram, ME. She was an accomplished oil painter. She loved to travel and visited 43 states and several foreign countries. Funeral service Wednesday, May 27 in Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 308 West Squantum Street, Quincy, , MA 02171 at 11:00 AM. Relatives and friends invited. Interment Blue Hill Cemetery.
