Evelyn Mess Obituary
Passed away on April 9, 2005 in Northridge, CA with family at her side. Evelyn was born on June 20, 1919 in Harris, Iowa. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Don and Lisa; daughter, Joan; daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Lee; sister, Georgia; brothers, Bert and John; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. She retired from Pacific Telephone Co. with 33 years of service. She spent the next 25 years doing volunteer work for the Telephone Pioneers of America. Memorial Services will be held at Oakwood Memorial Park, 22601 Lassen St., Chatsworth on Thursday, April 14, 2005 at 1:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Cancer Society.

Evelyn was the epitome of the Pioneer spirit. She was the most dedicated lady I have ever known. The Pioneers were lucky to have her and I thank her for all the wisdom she was happy to share with me.

Evelyn's indomitable spirit inspired all who worked with her at the Telephone Company and the Telecom Pioneers volunteers who worked side by side with her over the years will continue to serve their communities in her memory. She is dearly missed.

You have earned a special place in Heaven. What a wonderful, witty, kind, tenacious, wise,
indefatigable and caring lady. Thank you for all you've done for me, and so very many others. You will be missed, and always remembered. I'm sure you are up there and already arranging things for all the Saints. I'm so glad I was your friend.
