Don and Family,
Although I never met Eve personally, it was my pleasure to play cards with her in Roadhouse and enjoy the many funny e-mails we exchanged.
The musical e-mails she sent were fantastic as I know she enjoyed music as much as playing cards.
She will truely be missed by so many people, but I know she is playing cards and bluffing and winning in a much better place.
God Bless you Eve

Eve was our dear friend and neighbor for many years. Even when we move from previous locations (Elmhurst,IL) to Hot Springs,Ar Eve is all the time in touch with us. She was very honest lady and has had lot of patience with us because we just don’t speak English correctly. I was born in Belgrad,Serbia and my wife was born
In Havana Cuba. We at one point started communicated with video camera on Internet but at one point we give it up with conclusion
That we are no looking good on camera. We going to missing
Our dear friend Eve. We believe that she is in Haven and probably trying to reach us by e-mail. Elisa and Cedomir,Hot Springs,AR

I met Eve when I was working Bingo at VFW Post 5151 in Streamwood. I have known her for a few years and got to be good friends with her. We emailed a lot. I am glad that I went to see her in the Hospital. I did not realize she was as bad as she was. I only found out after it was all over. She was a truly remarkable woman. I will miss my friend Miss Eve.

Don & Family: Our condolences for your loss of such a special lady. I met Eve last year when she sent me one of the most special emails I had ever received. I would like to share part of it. Here it is:

“I would like you to know I met my husband in Aug of 1949 and we married in March of 1950... I had met Mike Kinsch while he was visiting at Truck 13 Engine 106 and that day I stopped to visit at the patrol 5's building on Orleans and Hill. Saw Mr. Kinsch and he introduced me to Don Kleppe. and we have been married for 58 years ..

Our first child was named Michael. after Mr. Kinsch. and we never got to tell him that.. Eve Kleppe”

Mike Kinsch is my grandfather and my family and I were so touched to hear that beautiful story. We became fast friends afterwards I am so glad we were able to meet her and Don for breakfast last June when we were in town. The world lost a special lady. God Bless the Kleppe family during this difficult time.

Eve, You have touched many people. Like my father, once you have been introduced to someone they are not just an acquaintance but a friend who you shared your life with. You welcomed me into the family. Initiated me into the Kleppe menu plan of Johns Pizzaaaaaa. In your new life the lord will know all the good you have done and what a good hearted person you were. You will be missed. Love Sandy

Although I never met Eve, I will miss her as her friendship with my friend Chuck Rettmueller allowed me to view Eve's wonderfull sense of humor. Her emails to Chuck which were forwarded all over the world allowed us to enjoy her sense of humor. I only wish I had sat across a poker table with her. Maybe not, I probably would have lost my shirt.

To Don and Family,
I met this Lady about 3 years ago and once she found that I had ties to the Fire Service we became good friends and even exchanged department patches. Her kindness and sence of humor made my day when she sent jokes to me.
I pray for you all and I want you to know that she is looking at us with a joke or 2 in her thoughts. My best to you all.

Eve came to our poker group not knowing a sole yet anxious to meet many new ones. She started out a limper, hesitant and unsure at first, afraid to go “all in” with cards as well as getting to know us. Over time she learned to bet her hands and would not back down even when she was being thrown a bluff. She’d usually hit a crazy gut shot on the river and beat one of the big boys, beat them bad. She’d be apologizing to them, all the while I knew she was grinning and loving every moment. When Eve was on her game there was no stopping her, she really loved playing poker. She eventually improved her game enough to play “live” poker. She told me once after she won in a live game, “If it wasn’t for Roadhouse and all I’ve learned, I would have never been able to do this.” I never told her but that one statement was the highest praise; it meant the world to me. Eighty years young she was, still striving to learn and laughing. To say she was inspiring to me is an understatement.

I’m so sorry and sad Eve’s life journey came to an end. She was a precious gift in my life and one that I will forever treasure. My thoughts and tears are with you all.
