Eugene Doebert Obituary

Eugene E. "Gene" Doebert, 82, a life-long resident of Aurora passed away at home on Nov. 1, 2011 after a long illness. Mr. Doebert was a 1946 graduate of East Aurora High School and was the owner/operator of Doebert's Garage, an auto repair business, for 50 years. He was a former Third Ward Alderman and Director of Equipment Services for the City of Aurora. Mr. Doebert was an active community volunteer who served as president of the Aurora Council of Clubs, the president of The Tiger Athletic Association, as a member of the board of directors of the Aurora Easter Seals and as the second vice-president of the PTA of John W. Gates School. He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Dolores (Ries) Doebert, a daughter, Diane Chapman of Geneva, a daughter-in-law, Sandra Doebert of Lemont, 4 grandsons Frank Chapman, Jr (Dawn Rakow), David Chapman, Jeremy Doebert, Justin Doebert, a sister, Marilyn (Doebert) Brown of Brockport, NY, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Margaret Doebert and a son, Edward. The family would like to thank the Fox Valley VNA for their support during his illness. The family requests that memorials be made to the Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley: The Doebert Family Scholarship, which is awarded annually to an East Aurora High School senior who intends to major in education at a four year university or that memorials be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Aurora.
