Eric Thorson Obituary

Eric Gordon Thorson, age 92, of Little Rock, Arkansas, passed away on July 13, 2010 after a short illness. He was born August 21, 1917, in Geneva, Illinois, the son of Eric and Laura Thorson, of 217 South Second Street. Eric attended Geneva Community High School and, in 1941 graduated in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana. He married Marion Johnson of St. Charles in 1942. Following military service they lived on Woodward Avenue in Geneva. After retirement, Eric and Marion moved to Little Rock, Arkansas. Eric served in the US Navy, attaining the rank of Lieutenant Commander. He was Commander of the Navel Pre-flight School in Northfield Minnesota and later served as an aerial navigator in the South Pacific. Following military service, he enjoyed a distinguished career as a Civil Engineer in the Highway Department of the State of Illinois. Eric was preceded in death by his daughter Hollis Ann, his wife Marion and his sister Luella Sargent of Tampa, Florida. He is survived by his brother Lloyd Thorson who resides in Vienna, Austria. Eric, Marion and their daughter are interred at Pine Crest Memorial Cemetery in Little Rock.
