Diana Dixon Obituary

Diana Mary Dixon (nee Rowe) of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, passed away on Friday, May 7, 2021, after an 8 month struggle with cancer.

Diana was born December 5, 1949 in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, to Bill and Catherine Rowe. Diana married Gordon on July 4, 1970.

Diana had many varied talents and interests. She worked as a teacher, teacher's aide, and crafter. She was well known in Winnipeg for the heirloom teddy bears she made from old fur coats. On retiring to Prince Albert, she became very involved with Grandmothers 4 Grandmothers, spearheading several craft based fundraisers for the Stephen Lewis foundation. When COVID hit, she shifted gears, and made well over 1000 masks that were distributed throughout Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia.

Diana became involved with Beta Sigma Phi in her time in Red Deer, and it continued when she lived in Winnipeg and Prince Albert. Diana's great loves were spending time at the cabin at Emma Lake, kayaking, travelling and spending time with her husband, daughters and grandchildren. While in Red Deer, Diana and Gordon had the pleasure of lunching with Her Majesty the Queen. This was followed by a trip to Britain, which awakened Diana's interest in genealogy. Retirement brought a trip across Canada, and Alaskan cruise, and several winters excursions to either Florida or Vancouver Island.

A highlight for her was fulfilling a childhood dream to go visit Africa, where she stayed in a small community and discovered ways to respond to the AIDS pandemic.

Diana is survived by her husband of 51 years Gordon, as well as daughters Lysa, Terra and Marla, son-in-laws Scott and Chad, grandchildren Rylan, Berkley, Brayann and Taylor, grand dogs Ben, Farley and Cooper, sisters Margaret, Daphne and Cathie, and their partners brother-in-law Kevin and Joe. She will also be missed by sisters-in-law Roberta and Rae, brother-in-law Rich and their partners Alan and Carol, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and all others that are part of this special family.

Diana passed quickly and peacefully in the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon. Her husband, daughters, son-in-laws and grandchildren all spent time with her as COVID protocols al-lowed. She died as she lived, with courage, grace and faith.

In memory of Diana, donations may be made to the Stephen Lewis foundation through Grand-mothers 4 Grandmothers at https://slf.akaraisin.com/ui/donate1/donations/start or to the Canadian Cancer Society, #2 – 630 45th Street West, Saskatoon, SK S7L 5W9.
