Elmer Schulz Obituary
Elmer A. Schulz, age 90; passed away peacefully on August 24, 2016. A longtime resident of Downers Grove.
Elmer graduated from Downers Grove Community High School. He enlisted and served meritoriously in the 76th Infantry Division of the U.S. Army during WWII.
Elmer worked as an independent insurance agent and business owner in Downers Grove for over 60 years. He was a member of Christ Church of Oak Brook and an avid nature lover who supported the work of the National Wildlife Federation.
Elmer was the beloved husband of Edna "Eddie" Schulz, nee Wahl; loving father of Edward (Danette) Schulz, Katharine (Darrell) Kooy, Nancy (Lawrence) Yung, and Thomas (Cathy) Schulz; dear grandfather of 11 and great-grandfather 3; fond brother of Helen Douglas, Marion Hinkle, Elizabeth McVey, Robert Schulz, and the late Richard and Donald Schulz.
Memorial Visitation Friday, September 23rd 10:00 AM until time of Celebration Service 11:00 AM at Christ Church of Oak Brook, 501 Oak Brook Road, (31st & York) Oak Brook, IL 60523. Interment Private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Christ Church of Oak Brook or the National Wildlife Federation, P.O. Box 1583, Merrifield, VA 22116-1583.

Elmer Schulz was a prominent DG businessman who had integrity and a way with people. I dealt with him for over 20 years when I worked in the business office at Avery Coonley School. The one time there was a fire on the property, he got there before the fire department.
