Ellsworth Steinhauer Obituary

Ellsworth F. Steinhauer, age 96 of Downers Grove passed away on April 29, 2008. He was born April 14, 1912. Mr. Steinhauer was an Army Veteran of WWII. He was also a retired carpenter formerly employed by Schless Construction Co, the past secretary and an honorary member, for 62 years of the Carpenter's Union Local 1889. Mr. Steinhauer was also a past Boy Scout and Boy Scout Leader. He was an avid elder hosteler. Mr. Steinhauer is survived by his wife of 68 years, Charlotte, nee Nelson; daughter, Sandra C. (Ronald) Gales; son, William G. (Margarete); 2 grandchildren, Christopher A. (Jacqueline) Gales and Alexis A. Steinhauer; 3 great-grandchildren, Jack Ryan, William Ellsworth and Ainsley Elizabeth Gales. He was preceded in death by his parents William and Elsie and his granddaughter Amy Elizabeth Gales. Visitation will be Thursday, May 1, from 4-8 p.m. at Toon Funeral Home, 4920 Main Street, Downers Grove, with a 10 a.m. service at the funeral home on Friday May 2, Rev. Laura Hoglund officiating.
