Elizabeth Petergal Obituary

Elizabeth "Betsy" Petergal nee Wagman, 84, a 9-year resident of Oak Park and former Berwyn resident, passed away February 19, 2009 at MacNeal Hospital in Berwyn. Betsy was born June 4, 1924 in Turkey. She was a retired Army Veteran serving in WWII from 1944 - 1945 and a Docent at Brookfield Zoo for many years, Sunday school teacher at Berwyn Presbyterian Church and a Den Mother and Girl Scout Leader. Recently she enjoyed Yoga and Tai Chi. Visitation will be held Thursday, February 26, 2009 from 11am - 1pm at Kopicki's Heritage Funeral Home, 3117 S Oak Park Avenue in Berwyn, with a Memorial Service at 12pm, at the funeral home. Cremated remains will be interred at Mary Queen of Heaven in Hillside. Betsy is survived by her children, John, Joseph, Stephen and Elizabeth Gambina; sister Mary Louise Boyer; 5 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
